Out of Town Dental Emergencies

Many times, patients call our office with dental emergencies that happen while out of town. Here are my recommendations for some of the more common emergencies:

Problem:  A temporary crown has come out

Solution: If you still have the crown and will be home soon, place a small amount of denture adhesive such as fixodent in it and replace. Otherwise a trip to a local dentist may be needed if your stay is longer or if you have lost the temporary. Never walk around without the temporary as senitivity or tooth shifting may occur.

Problem:  A filling came out.

Solution:  Most local pharmacies have dental temporary materials which can "fill the hole" until you get back.  If you have pain, seek a local dentist for an emergency appointment.

Pain or swelling:  Seek local attention. If you can't find anyone, call our office as my cell phone number is on the answering machine

Broken dentures:

Solution:  DO NOT CRAZY GLUE IT!   Seek the help of a local dentist.

As always if you have any questions, don't hesistate to contact the office.

Happy travels!
